In partnership with Presenting Denver & MCA, HOLDTIGHT will perform a new work at Denver’s Museum of Contemporary Art on Saturday, September 28th between 1-2:30pm. This new work activates & accompanies an exhibiting artist, Ronny Quevedo’s, work titled “at the line”. HOLDTIGHT will perform a durational work where audience may come and go as they please as part of MCA’s larger Movements Toward Freedom exhibition.
“Linking physical and social definitions of movement, Movements Toward Freedom examines how the articulation of our bodies, collectively and singularly, informs and shapes a vital society. Showcasing recent work and new commissions that span genres of performance, sculpture, video, painting and installation, the exhibition considers the ways that physical movement plays an integral role in exercising personal and collective agency, as a means for community-building, civic change and liberation, as well as serving as an antidote to strife and a vehicle for healing and care.” (MCA)
"At the Line" is a floor installation by Ronny Quevedo made of reclaimed wood sourced from a professional basketball court. Quevedo breaks apart the floor and reconfigures it to make a new floor-based artwork where HOLDTIGHT will activate the piece.
The performance will take place Saturday Sept 28th at 1pm for 1.5 hours in the gallery, visitors may come and go as they please. Additional performances Dec 7th and 8th.
